«Claims against the media are not the only way to resolve disputes. The parties should always strive for finding alternative conditions for resolving emerging issues,» the Prime Minister Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev said at the ceremony of awarding media employees, dedicated to the Information and Press Day and the Day of Television and Radio Employees.
The head of Government noted the role of the media in the social and economic transformation of the country. The Prime Minister also expressed his opinion on the discussions around lawsuits against the media.
«I am absolutely convinced that freedom of speech in Kyrgyzstan is one of our most important achievements. And our country is a leader in the region in terms of freedom of speech. However, like our country, the domestic press today is going through difficult stages of formation and development. And journalists should not forget that their materials should always be based on reliable facts. I am convinced that we must do everything to further strengthen freedom of speech in Kyrgyzstan and maintain these positive trends,» said Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev.
The Information and Press Day is celebrated on November 7, and the Day of Television and Radio Employees — on December 8.
