Border conflict. No victims and injured reported

Conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of state border occurred against the background of beating a Kyrgyzstani near the conditional border line, passing through Kok-Tash village. The State Border Service informed 24.kg news agency.

The man was beaten the day before, on December 17. He was taken to the regional hospital.

«A verbal skirmish broke out this morning between the citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, which developed into a conflict. About 80 Kyrgyzstanis and hundreds of citizens of Tajikistan began to throw stones at each other. To prevent conflict, border representatives, heads of regional administrations and law enforcement officers of both countries arrived at the scene. Citizens stopped stoning each other. There are no victims of this conflict,» the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic said.

First Deputy Chairman of the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic Abdikarim Alimbaev and the First Deputy Commander of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan discussed the incident by telephone. They noted that it was necessary to carry out joint activities to prevent escalation of the incident.

To stabilize the situation on the border, Abdikarim Alimbaev left for Batken region.
