Wife of Kursan Asanov questioned at prosecutor's office as witness

Wife of the ex-deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Kursan Asanov, Kulnara Usenkanova, got a witness status. However, it is not known in which criminal case. Lawyer Taalaigul Toktakunova told 24.kg news agency.

The lawyer cannot tell under what article a case, where her client is a witness, has been instituted. She signed a non-disclosure agreement. Taalaigul Toktakunova noted that Kulnara Usenkanova was not a witness in the case instituted against her husband Kursan Asanov.

«This is not related to the acts that are incriminated to Kursan Asanov. His wife was questioned at the Military Prosecutor’s Office. The investigation questions concerned her business. I can regard this as an attempt to put pressure and demoralize Kursan Asanov himself,» said Taalaigul Toktakunova.

According to the lawyer, the investigation into the case against the former deputy minister of internal affairs is far-fetched. There has been no corpus delicti in his actions.

Kursan Asanov was removed from his post on August 13 for betraying the interests of the Kyrgyz police and loss of confidence. Later, the Military Prosecutor’s Office opened a criminal case on the fact of abuse of official position. On August 23, a driver of the ex-deputy minister Damirbek Paizylda uulu was detained. He was accused of aiding in abuse of official position. On August 27, the former deputy minister was detained. The court chose a preventive measure in the form of house arrest for him.
