Vladimir Putin thanks Sooronbai Jeenbekov for support and CSTO summit

At the end of the CSTO summit in Bishkek, Presidents of Russia Vladimir Putin and Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov held a bilateral meeting. The Kremlin press service reported.

«Our relations have gained active momentum, interaction in all areas. I am convinced that our fruitful cooperation will continue in the spirit of alliance and strategic partnership,» the head of Kyrgyzstan said.

Vladimir Putin thanked the head of Kyrgyzstan «for what you have done during the year for development of the CSTO as chairmen of this regional and, in my opinion, very important organization.»

As for bilateral relations, they are also developing very successfully. We confirm the quality of our relations in full.

«This quality is distinguished by true strategic partnership, one might say, alliance, and this is reflected in all areas, in interstate, political relations. We cooperate very actively in the international arena, we are grateful to you for supporting a number of our initiatives at the UN and at other venues,» the Russian leader noted.

«As for the economy, Russia is one of the leaders in this regard in contacts with Kyrgyzstan. In 2018, our turnover increased by more than 17 percent. At the same time, which is typical and what is an absolute advantage for Kyrgyzstan, your export to Russia — for us imports — grew by 22 percent. That is, your export to Russia is growing at a faster pace — faster than the turnover,» said Vladimir Putin.

About $ 200 million is Russian direct investment in the Kyrgyz economy. Approximately 700 our enterprises operate in the Kyrgyz market: joint ventures and with 100% Russian capital.
