Kyrgyz Prime Minister declares war on fuel and lubricants smuggling

Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev promised that all customs points in Kyrgyzstan would be fully digitized and automated in 2020.

According to him, the Government also declares war on fuel and lubricants smuggling. Starting from January 1, 2020, an automation system will be launched at all 975 gas filling stations in the republic.

The head of the Cabinet also spoke on a sensational investigation by Azattyk, Kloop and OCCRP about how a Chinese businessman, Aierken Saimaiti, who was killed in Turkey, transferred millions of dollars from Kyrgyzstan, and who of the Kyrgyz officials helped him in this. «I support the initiative of citizens who advocate for transparency at the State Customs Service. The President instructed to check the facts voiced in the investigation of the journalists. For my part, I offer all interested parties to help the work of the interdepartmental commission, which is dealing with this,» said Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev.

He noted that 24 percent of all incomes of the economy remained in the shadows, which means that about 30-40 billion soms do not come to the budget. The head of the Cabinet is sure that the problem will be solved with the help of digitization.

Under the project, the total revenues of the republican budget, taking into account state investment grants in 2020, should amount to 163,710 billion soms, expenses — 173,663 billion soms. The budget deficit in 2020 will amount to 9,953 billion soms, or 1.5 percent of GDP.
