A joint meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs, the Council of Ministers of Defense and the Committee of Secretaries of the Security Councils will take place in Bishkek along with the summit of the CSTO Heads of State. Interfax reported with reference to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

«During the meeting, the joint meeting participants will exchange views on pressing issues of ensuring security and stability both in the CSTO area of ​​responsibility and beyond,» the statement says.

Issues of «coordination of cooperation in the field of military policy, military development and military-technical cooperation» will be considered.

Earlier, Vladimir Zainetdinov, Spokesman for the Collective Security Treaty Organization, told reporters that «the agenda includes discussion of international and regional security issues, issues of strengthening the Tajik-Afghan border, interaction with the UN to implement the global counter-terrorism strategy and coordination of the foreign policy activities of the CSTO countries.»

According to him, the ministers will also discuss «development of the organization’s military potential and improvement of mechanisms to counter challenges and threats, including in the field of information security, as well as the events to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.»

During the session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, it is planned to sign a collective action plan to implement the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy for 2019-2021.

 «The plan provides for close cooperation in improving the entire system of countering terrorist challenges and threats,» said Vladimir Zainetdinov.

The document «was developed on the basis of the CSTO’s fundamental position on the formation of a broad international anti-terrorist coalition.» «It was agreed at the May meetings of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs, the Council of Defense Ministers and the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils the Collective Security Treaty Organization in Bishkek and is submitted for consideration by the Collective Security Council,» the spokesman said.

There are 17 issues on the agenda of the meeting of the Collective Security Council of CSTO.

The session of the Collective Security Council will be held in Bishkek on November 28 under the chairmanship of the President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov.

«A number of issues, in particular, discussion of the problems of international and regional security and the situation in the CSTO zone of responsibility will be discussed in a narrow composition. The plenary meeting of the Collective Security Council will be attended by the Foreign Ministers, Defense Ministers and Secretaries of the CSTO Security Councils.»

The CSTO includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
