The Supreme Court of Kyrgyzstan declared a tender for production of new type of e-passports illegal, upholding the decision of the first instance court. The Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic informed 24.kg news agency.
One of the bidders, Mühlbauer ID Services GmbH, previously filed a lawsuit against the State Registration Service and the State Procurement Department of the Ministry of Finance.
The Bishkek Interdistrict Court declared a decision of the tender committee of the State Registration Service dated February 1, 2019 on the winner for production of new biometric passports for Kyrgyzstan invalid. A Latvian company Garsu Pasaulis CJSC was recognized as a winner as a result of the tender.
The head of the State Registration Service Almaz Mambetov told reporters that the tender results would be canceled.
Obviously, a new tender will have to be announced to start production of new passports.
