Energy audit to be conducted at Bishkek schools and kindergartens

An energy audit to reduce heat loss will be conducted at Bishkek's schools and kindergartens. Press service of the Bishkek City Administration reported.

The Vice Mayor of Bishkek Mirlan Amanturov discussed the issue at a meeting with representatives of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek and the Unison Group consulting company, who are implementing projects on energy efficiency, climate change and sustainable development.

The vice mayor noted that funds were annually allocated from the city budget for the overhaul of social institutions, but no one cares about conservation of heat in the buildings.

A draft plan for improving energy efficiency and energy conservation at municipal buildings, which provides measures to reduce energy consumption and costs, was presented at the meeting.

"The project includes replacement of interior lighting, updating of ventilation and heating systems, insulation and replacement of roofs and windows, renovation of building facades and insulation of floors. An energy audit will help save money, increase comfort and reduce emissions of harmful greenhouse gases into the atmosphere,” the City Administration stressed.
