About 6,000 people to participate in rally of Ata Meken party

Ata Meken party obtained a permission to hold a rally on April 23. Secretariat of the political organization informed 24.kg news agency.

The leader of the parliamentary faction of the Socialists, Almambet Shykmamatov, is confident that the rally will take place peacefully and without provocations. Supporters of ex-deputies of the Parliament Omurbek Tekebaev and Sadyr Japarov notified the Bishkek City Administration about the planned event at the end of March. The rally will be held on the Old Square. On the same day, the Supreme Court is scheduled to review the criminal cases against Omurbek Tekebayev and Sadyr Japarov.

Organizers of the rally assume that about 6,000 people will take part in it.

Omurbek Tekebayev and Duishenkul Chotonov were sentenced to eight years in prison with confiscation of property. The courts of all instances found them guilty of corruption.

In November, Tverskoy Court of Moscow arrested the former State Duma deputy, the main witness in the Tekebayev — Chotonov case, a businessman Leonid Mayevsky. He was accused of extorting $ 37.5 million for non-proliferation of defamatory information. Leonid Maevsky faces up to 15 years in prison. In this regard, the defendants also intend to insist on the speedy review of their case.

Courts of all instances sentenced Sadyr Japarov to 11 years and 6 months in a prison colony for complicity in organizing a rally in Karakol in 2013. The ex-deputy was convicted under article 227 (hostage-taking) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
