1.5 tons of cigarettes smuggled from Kyrgyzstan destroyed in Russia

At least 1.5 tons of cigarettes smuggled into from and confiscated by customs officers were destroyed near Yekaterinburg (). Russian media reported.

«All the confiscated products with a total weight of  were destroyed on the territory of a household waste landfill in Berezovsky town,» statement says.

Entrepreneurs bought 57,000 packs of tobacco products in , and then delivered them to Yekaterinburg by air.

During the customs inspection at the cargo terminal of the airport, it turned out that cigarettes do not have Russian excise stamps. This means that the goods were imported into the country illegally. Some packs were marked with Duty Free Sale stamps which indicated a double violation during import into .

The court decided to destroy the entire batch and impose a fine on businessmen.
