Lawyer of the former president of the country Almazbek Atambayev filed an appeal against the decision of the Oktyabrsky District Court of Bishkek on the suit of the ex-Speaker of the Parliament Akhmatbek Keldibekov and former heads of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the State Committee for National Security Azimbek Beknazarov and Keneshbek Duishebaev. The lawyer Kantemir Turdaliev himself told 24.kg news agency.
Hearing in the Bishkek City Court is scheduled for April 22.
«I believe that my client did not insult anyone and his statements against the plaintiffs do not bring any reputational damage. He simply expressed his opinion and, according to the Constitution, has the right to do it. As for Akhmatbek Keldibekov, I do not understand why he was offended. Almazbek Atambayev said in an interview that the former speaker had worked at government posts all his life long and is now a multimillionaire. Is it slander? Judging by the published data on his property, he is a very rich man. We consider the decision of the first instance court as biased,» Kantemir Turdaliev told.
Recall, Akhmatbek Keldibekov, Azimbek Beknazarov and Keneshbek Duishebaev filed a lawsuit against April TV channel and Almazbek Atambayev. Former high-ranking officials were outraged by Almazbek Atambayev’s interview with the television channel in which he spoke out in their address. The district court made a decision in favor of the plaintiffs.
