Reaction of schoolchildren in Batken to vaccination is similar to the psycho-emotional one. The head of the Public Health Department, Aigul Akmatova, told at a press conference.
According to her, this is the first case in Kyrgyzstan when such a number of children experienced adverse reaction. A special commission has been formed to investigate the cause and effect relationship.
Gulbara Ishenapysova, Director of the Republican Center for Immunoprophylaxis, noted that the vaccine met the standards and has been certified by the Drug Supply and Medical Equipment Department of the republic. The vaccine was delivered in November 2018.
«Its shelf life is until January 2021. As part of a routine immunization, more than 85,000 people have been vaccinated, and there were no adverse reactions. We believe that children had a fear of needles,» she explained.
In total, according to physicians, 73 children were vaccinated at school, 7 people were hospitalized, two of them got into intensive care unit. As of today, all children, except for one girl, were discharged from the hospital.
