Organic products should become brand of Kyrgyzstan

Deputy of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Ainuru Altybaeva believes that organic products should become a brand of Kyrgyzstan. She stated this at a plenary session of Parliament.

Deputies of the Parliament consider in the third reading a draft law on organic agricultural production in Kyrgyzstan.

MP Aitmamat Nazarov noted that the bill was aimed at determining the legal basis for the production of organic agricultural products and their certification.

The Ministry of Agriculture is unlikely to be able to sell domestic organic products in accordance with the requirements of the world standards.

MP Bakyt Torobaev

Dastan Bekeshev noted that Kyrgyzstan might have organic production, but this does not mean that the products with «organic» label will be as such. He believes that it is necessary to develop measures of liability for manufacturers who do not comply with the law.

Ainuru Altybaeva proposes to issue interest-free loans to farmers engaged in organic production.

A similar proposal was voiced by MP Azizbek Tursunbaev. He noted that it was necessary to provide support to manufacturers of organic products. «We need to grant long-term loans. May be, to exempt from them taxes,» said the deputy.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Food Industry and Land Reclamation Zhanybek Kerimaliev said that 23 organic farms were operating in Kyrgyzstan.
