Volumes of direct transportation of petroleum products from Russia to the south of Kyrgyzstan increased 12 times by the end of last year. The Association of Oil Traders of the country reported.
If in 2017 the volume of direct supplies was only 11,800 tons, then in 2018 they rose to 139,600 tons. The association notes that the supply of fuel to the south of the republic is carried out by both rail and road transport along Bishkek-Osh road. Railway deliveries were resumed on March last year after the issue of tariffs reduction for transit through the territory of Uzbekistan was resolved. As a result, the neighboring country offered a 30 percent discount.
«Solution of this issue has partially unloaded Bishkek-Osh road, providing a safer way to transport oil products, especially in the winter period. An agreement was reached to extend for 2019 previously granted discounts on rail transit through Uzbekistan in the direction to / from the stations of the south branch of the Kyrgyz railway. At the same time, in relation to oil and oil products, an increase in discounts of up to 35 percent is provided when the traffic volume reaches 200,000 tons,» the Association stressed.
