The Asian Development Bank expects that Kyrgyzstan’s economy will grow by 4 percent in 2019. New ADB report says.

According to it, in 2020, GDP growth will accelerate to 4.4 percent. Inflation is expected at the level of 3 percent in 2019 and 3.5 percent — in 2020.

The report notes that the economic growth will slow down in Central Asia as a whole. Its average growth was 4.2 percent in 2017 and 4.4 percent — in 2018, as higher oil prices restored growth in Azerbaijan and accelerated it in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. It remained unchanged in Georgia and Kazakhstan and slowed down in Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.

«It is forecasted that growth in the region will decelerate to 4.2 percent in 2019 and 2020 due to a drop in average oil prices in Kazakhstan and despite improvements in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan,» the report said.

The economic forecast of the International Monetary Fund is more pessimistic. The IMF expects Kyrgyzstan’s economy to grow by 3.8 percent in 2019, and inflation will reach 2.2 percent.
