Central Asian Uranium Company will invest in Kara-Balta Mining Plant OJSC (KBMP) and uranium mining at Kyzyl-Ompol deposit. Representative of Russian shareholders Andrey Akimov, General Director of KBMP Daniyar Isakov and Vladimir Popov, the main shareholder of the Central Asian Uranium Company, announced at the Kyrgyz-Russian Interregional Conference.
According to them, with the support of the presidents of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov and Russia Vladimir Putin, active work in the area of subsoil use and investment is expected. One of such large projects is the development of Kyzyl-Ompol uranium deposit in Issyk-Kul region with further enrichment of uranium at the KBMP.
«The interdepartmental commission, which is to confirm that our projects do not cause environmental damage, has finished its work. Local activists participated in it. We hope that now they are convinced of the safety of production. Moreover, thanks to our work, the territory will be cleared of harmful metals,» said Andrey Akimov.
The businessman noted that investors saw maximum support and help from the authorities, namely, the Presidential Administrations and the government of Kyrgyzstan. Therefore, they will continue to work on informing the public about the benefits of the project.
In addition, significant amounts are planned to be allocated for the social package and opening of new productions in Issyk-Kul region.
The company does not exclude that they will not limit their presence in Kyrgyzstan only to uranium mining.
«We see several promising areas in Kyrgyzstan, not only in the extraction of metals and uranium. We have potential investors who are already ready to invest money this year. Shareholders are considering the development of coal mining and industry. At the moment, we are interested in the development of coal deposits and construction of factories on them. These are Kara-Keche and Tuyuk Kargash. Coal reserves there are estimated at 230 million tons. These are huge investments in Kyrgyzstan for the implementation of this large-scale project,» Andrei Akimov told.
