104 homeless children officially registered in Bishkek

At least 104 homeless and abandoned children are registered in Bishkek. Social Protection Department of the Bishkek City Administration reports.

A total of 775 children in a difficult life situation were detected in the capital of Kyrgyzstan. At least 104 of them are registered with rehabilitation centers for street children. However, the department did not specify whether these children are orphans or have at least one parent.

Recall, the director of the Center for Rehabilitation of Children and Youth under the Bishkek City Administration Aleksey Petrushevsky was fired on March 6. He considered his dismissal illegal and appealed to the trade union. In recent times, he was criticized and even accused of pedophilia and sale of children. More than one inspection was carried out at the center, but the facts were not confirmed.

Earlier, deputies of the Bishkek City Council suggested closing the rehabilitation center, transferring children to other institutions, and open a kindergarten in the building. However, it turned out that they would have to demolish the indoor football field, built at the expense of grant money.
