Mayor of Yakutsk promises security to migrants from Kyrgyzstan

Today, Kyrgyz officials, who had specially left for Yakutsk after the events, met with the mayor of the city, Sardana Avksentieva.

According to the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Russia, the parties discussed issues of resolving the situation related to the indignations of the local population against the Kyrgyz who are working in Yakutsk because of information in the media about rape of a local resident by a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Sardana Avksentieva noted that the situation was taken under her control. The mayor of Yakutsk assured of ensuring safety of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic in the city and guaranteed an immediate response in case of threats.

The Kyrgyz delegation noted that a crime does not have nationalities, and expressed a request to strengthen further cooperation in resolving the situation related to the indignations of the local population against Kyrgyz citizens and anti-immigrant rallies.

According to the head of the national diaspora, Zhazbek Bekboliev, a suspect of rape came to Yakutia a year ago. He worked at a construction site at daytime, and in the evening worked as a taxi driver. He does not speak Russian well, so he was provided with an interpreter. The Kyrgyzstani wrote a confession. Two more suspects were also detained. They are friends, 24-25 years old, all from Kyrgyzstan.

A trial of two suspects will take place today. According to Zhazbek Bekboliev, it will be held behind closed doors.

A rally against migrants was held in Yakutia. It was caused by information about abduction and rape of a local woman by a group of migrants.

According to the Investigative Committee of Yakutsk, three unknown persons forced the woman to get into a car on Sunday morning. One of the suspects was detained.

Criminal case was opened on rape and abduction of a person charges.
