Road on Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan border opened, situation is stable

Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan opened the road, traffic along Isfahan — Vorukh (Tajikistan) and Batken — Leilek (Kyrgyzstan) roads was resumed. Press service of the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic reports.

Meeting of delegations of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan on resolving the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border ended in Dacha area of ​​Kyrgyzstan on March 18.

«It was agreed to continue joint patrols in uncoordinated and problem areas of Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan border. The situation at the border is stable,» the State Border Service noted.

The state service added that after the talks, representatives of governments of the two countries, the heads of Batken region of the Kyrgyz Republic and Sughd region of the Republic of Tajikistan, together with the elders of two border villages, conducted an explanatory work and opened the road.

A conflict occurred in Batken region on Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan border over the construction of Ak-Sai — Tamdyk road. Residents of border villages threw stones at each other. Border guards of both countries used weapons to disperse people. Osh — Isfana road in the area of Vorukh enclave was closed.
