Advisor to Ambassador clarifies report of U.S. Department of State

Advisor to the U.S. Ambassador in Kyrgyzstan Kristine Marsh clarified the human rights report of the U.S. Department of State.

According to her, the report reflects views of some human rights groups, observers and experts who believe that there are political prisoners in Kyrgyzstan, in particular, the leader of Ata Meken party, Omurbek Tekebayev, and ex-MP Sadyr Japarov. And the former prime ministers charged with corruption, Sapar Isakov and Jantoro Satybaldiev, are political detainees.

«The human rights report is a balanced report on the human rights situation in different countries of the world. This year’s report on the Kyrgyz Republic, as in previous years, is a collection of credible statements and analysis of the government of the republic, civil society, experts and other relevant bodies,» she said.

It includes opinions of some human rights organizations that believe that there are political prisoners in the Kyrgyz Republic.
