Deputies of Parliament of Kyrgyzstan to visit border conflict scene

A deputy group will get acquainted with situation on Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan border in Batken region. Press service of the Parliament reported.

On the instructions of the Speaker of the Parliament Dastanbek Dzhumabekov, the deputy group left for Batken region. It includes Torobai Zulpukarov, Karamat Orozova, Taabaldy Tillaev, Kurmanbek Zulushev and Ainuru Altybaeva.

The speaker noted that the incident in the border area should be resolved in the interests of the two fraternal countries while maintaining friendly relations, mutual understanding and good neighborliness between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

Yesterday, at a meeting of the Parliament, the deputies discussed the situation on Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan border behind closed doors.

A conflict occurred between the residents of neighboring villages on the border of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan due to the start of construction by the Kyrgyz side of Ak-Sai — Tamdyk bypass road on March 13.

On March 14, Kyrgyzstanis blocked the road from the Tajik enclave Vorukh and began to throw stones at local residents. According to the Tajik side, «in their turn, in order to defend themselves, unarmed Tajiks responded.» Kyrgyz border guards, the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan stressed, opened fire resulting in the death of one citizen of the Republic of Tajikistan, two were injured.
