Kyrgyzstan among countries with unsafe for drinking tap water

Kyrgyzstan is included in the list of countries, where tap water is unsafe for drinking. These are the results of a study by the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention published by The Daily Mail.

The list includes 187 states. Kyrgyzstan is on par with the countries of Central America, Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

Tap water in these regions is unsafe not because of contamination, but because of the presence of pathogenic microorganisms that are foreign to human immune system.

Drinking such water can cause unpleasant and potentially fatal infections.

According to the World Health Organization, some 842,000 people are estimated to die each year from diarrhoea as a result of unsafe drinking-water, sanitation and hand hygiene.

Tap water in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and most EU countries is reportedly safe for drinking.
