10 judges lost jobs due to violation of laws in Kyrgyzstan over 2 years

Two judges have been relieved of their posts in Kyrgyzstan over two years due to violation of laws. The President Sooronbai Jeenbekov told at the 11th Congress of Judges.

In 2016-2018, other 26 judges were brought to disciplinary responsibility. The Council of Judges agreed to bring 10 judges to justice.

«Quality of selection of judges should be improved in the future. It is necessary to tighten the procedure for selection of candidates and prevent appointment of illiterate and unscrupulous people to the posts,» the head of state said.

The President told that the Council for Selection of Judges sent to him proposals on 88 candidates for appointment to the Supreme Court, the Constitutional Chamber and local courts in 2018.

«At least 32 candidates of them did not pass the selection. This suggests that the Council for Selection of Judges does not comply with the requirements for the selection of candidates. They do not rely on the professionalism of future judges, but on other criteria. Dear members of the Council for Selection of Judges, remember that your choice influences not only the fate of many people, but also the state as a whole,» Sooronbai Jeenbekov added.
