Financial police checking property of Raiymbek Matraimov for 2 months

The State Service for Combating Economic Crimes of Kyrgyzstan has been checking the property of the former deputy chairman of the State Customs Service Raiymbek Matraimov for 2 months. The state service informed 24.kg news agency.

However, the Financial police did not indicate the property the security forces were checking. In addition, they did not specify a date of the end of the inspection, even preliminary one.

Note, the Financial police started the check in January 2019.

In December 2018, during a year-end press conference of the head of state, journalist Elnura Alkanova provided Sooronbai Jeenbekov with investigation materials and asked why the middle-level official had money for building of several mansions in Osh and Bishkek cities. The journalist asked why, in the framework of a large-scale anti-corruption campaign, the investigating authorities were not interested in Raiym-millionaire.

In response, the president promised that the documents would be handed over to the appropriate authorities and an inspection would be scheduled.

The investigation materials by Ulan Egizbaev and Elnura Alkanova were sent to the state service in 40 days.

Raiymbek Matraimov was reinstated as Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Service by a court decision. Previously, he was dismissed from the post by the then Prime Minister Sapar Isakov with the phrase «incompatibility of his activities with the decisions and policies pursued by the political leadership.»

«Raiymbek Matraimov is an experienced employee, who has worked in the Customs for more than 20 years,» the current chairman of the service, Almaz Onolbekov, commented on the possible reinstatement of the ex-deputy head of State Customs Service on January 28, 2019.
