Tax burden on mining industry in Kyrgyzstan is low, experts believe

Tax increase will not hinder development of the mining industry in Kyrgyzstan. Mining engineer Duishenbek Kamchybekov told today at a round table discussion.

According to him, after a meeting of the Security Council, where work of deposits was discussed, the International Business Council spoke against the decision.

«The International Business Council said that tax issues were burdensome for us. The tax burden in Kyrgyzstan is 18 percent, in Kazakhstan — 14 percent, in Mongolia — 15 percent. IBC did not tell that the tax burden in Tajikistan was 26 percent. At the same time, the mining industry is actively developing,» Duishenbek Kamchybekov stressed.

He added that the Association of Miners supported customs duty increase in export of gold ore.

«We do not say that it should be increased to 25 percent. We are talking about a slight increase of 3-5 percent,» Duishenbek Kamchybekov explained.
