President of Kazakhstan ratifies agreement on Kyrgyzstan-Kazakhstan border

President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, signed a law on ratification of agreement between the governments of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan on the regime of Kazakhstan-Kyrgyzstan state border. Press service of the head of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported on March 2.

The agreement provides for establishment of a regime of the Kazakhstan-Kyrgyzstan state border. It includes the rules in force at the border, and the procedure for maintaining the state border, passage of people, vehicles, cargo and other property across the border, flying over the state border, introduction of economic and other activities in border zones and boundary waters limits, including their use, resolving of border incidents.

The agreement is indefinite and valid until one of the parties through diplomatic channels in writing notifies the second of the intention to terminate it. Then the document will cease to act after 3 months.

«In case of incidents, border representatives will conduct one-sided or joint investigation and review its results, exchange information, make joint decisions. The parties must jointly eliminate the consequences and causes of such incidents, bringing to justice those responsible and restoring the regime of the state border,» the message says.

The President of Kyrgyzstan ratified the agreement on January 18, 2019.
