Kyrgyzstan becomes 1 of 6 countries participating in satellite Internet project

Kyrgyzstan has become one of six countries of the world participating in satellite Internet project. Press service of the State Committee for Information Technology and Communications of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The global communications operator One Web launched low-orbit satellites into space to create the conditions for Internet access to hard-to-reach schools in Ecuador, Rwanda, Nepal, Honduras, Kyrgyzstan and Alaska (USA).

According to Eshmambet Amatov, Vice Chairman of the State Committee for Information Technology and Communications of Kyrgyzstan, affordable and high-quality Internet means access to education, healthcare, business opportunities and, as a result, economic growth, emergence of new economic clusters, creation of new jobs through accession to the world market.

It is expected that with the assistance of the Ministry of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan and UNICEF, one of the One Web satellites will connect Kyzyl Oktyabr school in Kotur-Suu village in Naryn region to free satellite Internet in 2020.
