At least 39,872 permits were issued in Kyrgyzstan mainly for carrying hunting weapons. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Orozaliev said during discussion of amendments to the Law on Arms in the Parliament.
MP Baktybek Turusbekov proposed to publish the data of weapon owners. «I think this information should be available. We live in peacetime, but weapons often pop up in crime reports. If you issue a permit, you are responsible for it,» he said.
Almazbek Orozaliev replied that the data was in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but they were not publicly available, since in this case personal information of the owners should be spread. «There are rules for storage. There must be a safety locker. We check storage rules at least once a year,» he added.
