Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan agree to strengthen phytosanitary control

Phytosanitary services of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan signed a roadmap on strengthening phytosanitary quarantine control in the Kyrgyz Republic. Regnum reported with reference to the press service of the head of government of Kazakhstan.

Today, a Kyrgyz delegation led by the Deputy Prime Minister Zhenish Razakov took part in negotiations on cooperation in the field of agriculture.

Bishkek asks to lift ban on the export of certain types of agricultural products. The Kazakh side agreed to remove control after the phytosanitary service of Kyrgyzstan eliminated 465 violations recorded in 2018 and in January — February 2019.

In addition, the parties agreed to automate the accounting of transboundary water resources.

On February 19, Kazakhstan temporarily restricted import of potatoes, apples and persimmons from Kyrgyzstan due to numerous phytosanitary violations. Bishkek stated that the restriction was introduced unreasonably.
