The head of the National Center for Torture Prevention of Kyrgyzstan, Nurdin Sulaimanov, stated to 24.kg news agency that keeping the former head of the National Security Service (now the State Committee for National Security) Murat Sutalinov in penal colony should be considered as ill-treatment.
According to him, taking into account that Murat Sutalinov has cancer at the last stage, he should be released. But the head of the National Center for Torture Prevention cannot comment on the decision of the Leninsky District Court of Bishkek.
Attorney of Murat Sutalinov, Timur Karabaev, filed an appeal. He reminds: Murat Sutalinov needs palliative care. He cannot get it in detention conditions.
According to the verdict of the Supreme Court in a criminal case on April 7, 2010 events, Murat Sutalinov was sentenced to 25 years in prison with confiscation of property. He is being held in the penal colony 47. Every two weeks, Murat Sutalinov is taken for chemotherapy at the National Oncology Center.
