Bishkek City Council has a new deputy — Kazybek Ergeshov from Respublika — Ata Zhurt faction. He received his seat today at a session of the council.
The deputy seat became vacant after the Supreme Court deprived Zhusupbek Korgonbai uulu of his mandate.
Recall, on December 26, 2018, the Central Election Commission approved the decision of the TEC and Korgonbai uulu Zhusupbek lost his seat due to the fact that a person, who has citizenship of another state, cannot be elected as a deputy of local council.
Korgonbai uulu Zhusupbek appealed to the court to declare the decisions of the CEC and the Bishkek TEC illegal. The Interdistrict Court upheld his appeal, finding that the CEC used a copy of an illegitimate letter of the Russian Ministry of Justice when making the decision.
The CEC and the Bishkek TEC filed a cassation appeal. The Supreme Court sustained it.
