Osh deputies refuse to allocate money for milk to children of HIV-positive

Osh city deputies refused to allocate money for milk to children born by HIV-positive women. A member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Health Aibar Sultangaziev told 24.kg news agency.

According to him, deputies are considering the draft city budget for 2019, hearings have been held.

«At least 2 million soms were budgeted for baby food, including dairy centers for children born by mothers with HIV. Deputies have cut this item, arguing that it was necessary to develop the sports and send funds to it. We are concerned. Deputies are breaking HIV / AIDS law,» Aibar Sultangaziev told.

Under law, children born by mothers with HIV / AIDS are provided with breast-milk substitutes for up to one year at the expense of the republican and local budgets.

More than 600 children with HIV are registered in Kyrgyzstan.

«More than 300 of them were infected in medical institutions in the south of the country. In theory, these children have to be provided not only with milk, but also compensation as moral damage from the state,» Aibar Sultangaziev stressed.
