In 2017, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan signed an agreement on the joint use of Orto-Tokoi (Kasansai) water reservoir. Under the agreement, the neighboring republic will receive 92 percent of the total water in the reservoir. «Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan will form a commission, and it will determine the cost of repairs. We expect to budget from 16 to 20 million soms for technical maintenance of the reservoir. The money will be transferred by the Republic of Uzbekistan to the account of the water management department,» Nurbek Murashev, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture, told the deputies upon ratification of the agreement.
