40 sensors for measuring air pollution to be installed in Bishkek

It is planned to install 40 sensors to measure air pollution in Bishkek. The head of MoveGreen NGO Maria Kolesnikova told at a press conference.

According to her, the organization has been conducting civilian air monitoring in Bishkek for the second year. At least seven sensors have been installed in the capital. They will be certified in the near future.

«The sensors monitor the level of fine particles. According to WHO, they have one of the most negative health effects,» she said.

Maria Kolesnikova added that the authorities did not accept results of the civil monitoring. But the station of the Meteorology, Ecology and Environmental Protection Department of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University records the same figures.

According to civilian monitoring and the station, the air pollution in Bishkek 4-7 times exceeds the norm, on some days — even 7-17 times.
