Bishkek intersections 80 percent ready for Safe City project

Bishkek intersections are 80 percent ready for Safe City project. The Bishkek City Administration reported.

Until February 8, municipal services undertook to bring the infrastructure of intersections into line with the requirements of GOST.

As part of the implementation of Safe City component, local self-governments are provided with payment of 30 percent of the collected fines to cover the costs associated with maintaining the road infrastructure of the intersections where a photo and video recording system is installed.

In the first year of the project, the Bishkek City Administration will need 211.8 million soms to service 38 intersections. Further annual costs will amount to about 91.8 million soms.

The average annual income forecast from the cameras in Bishkek is 770.45 million soms (with the old fine rates). After payment for the services of a private company and postal services, the forecast balance is 449 million soms.

Thus, 30 percent of the forecast balance for the Bishkek City Administration will amount to 134.7 million soms.
