Border incident. Kazakhstan believes there was no need to shoot

«It was not a situation that requires an explicit use of weapons,» the head of the Border Service of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan, Darkhan Dilmanov, commented on the incident on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border during which a citizen of Kazakhstan was killed. Tengrinews.kz reported.

«In the near future, we plan to meet and voice our position on the use of weapons at the border to the leadership of the department of the neighboring republic. This will be one of the main issues. We hope that they will hear and understand that this is not a situation that requires an explicit use of weapons,» the head of the Border Service said.

Darkhan Dilmanov confirmed the fact of illegal crossing of the Kyrgyz border. «All three are citizens of Kazakhstan. Two of them were previously prosecuted for violation of the state border. Both were sentenced to six months of suspended sentence. We have detained two people,» said Darkhan Dilmanov.

According to him, Kazakhstanis violated the border of the neighboring republic in the mountainous area.

«We closed everything that is in the plain with a fence, it is physically impossible to cross it. We continue to install the fence in the mountain terrain. Where we did not install it, there was a violation of the state border. They crossed the state border for theft of the cattle and they committed it,» he added.

Darkhan Dilmanov noted that there were actions on the part of the border intruder that threatened the life of a Kyrgyz border guard.

«According to the Kyrgyz side, he attacked an officer and a soldier with a knife. Kyrgyz border guards used firearms,» Darkhan Dilmanov added.

The investigation into the incident continues.

Recall, on January 23, three unknown persons illegally drove 10-15 horses across the border from Kyrgyzstan to Kazakhstan in Manas district of Talas region. The border guards tried to detain the violators, but they resisted. The servicemen opened fire. One man died.
