Kyrgyzstanis reporting corruption to be protected by law

The President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov signed the law on the Protection of Persons Reporting Corruption Offenses. Press service of the head of state reported.

The law was adopted by the Parliament on December 20, 2018. The document is aimed at protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens, ensuring the protection of individuals, who reported corruption offenses, from prosecution; it establishes the legal and organizational basis for the protection of these persons, and also aims to strengthen public confidence in the state and its structures.

It is provided that a person, who reported a corruption offense, is paid a remuneration depending on the reimbursed amount of a corruption offense.

The law comes into force on the day of its official publication.
