Current and former police officers were detained in Bishkek. Press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
The officers extorted $ 3,000 from a Bishkek resident for not opening a criminal case against him.
The Internal Investigation Service opened a criminal case under the article «Extortion of a bribe» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
«The suspects were caught red-handed while receiving a bribe of $ 2,500. One of them is a 30-year-old current officer of the Criminal Police Service of the Main Internal Affairs Department of Bishkek, the second is a 36-year-old former employee of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Interior Ministry. He was wanted for abuse of power and extortion of bribes. A 38-year-old ex-officer of the Criminal Police Service of the Internal Affairs Department for Leninsky district of the capital was also among them; he was wanted for fraud. The suspects were placed in the pretrial detention center of the State Committee for National Security,» the Ministry of Internal Affairs informed.
