Ex-head of National Security Service to be released from prison due to illness

The state of health of the former head of the National Security Service of Kyrgyzstan Murat Sutalinov has deteriorated. The First Deputy Chairman of the State Penitentiary Service, Zhorobek Duishembiev, told at a press conference.

According to him, documents for the release of Murat Sutalinov have been submitted to the court.

«The convict Murat Sutalinov is now undergoing one more course of chemotherapy due to a serious illness. He falls into the category of persons who can be exempted from serving a sentence. Murat Sutalinov passed a special commission, including the Ministry of Health. The recommendation on ​​his release was sent to the Leninsky District Court. A trial is to take place soon,» said Zhorobek Duishembiev.

By the verdict of the Supreme Court within a criminal case on April 7, 2010 events, Murat Sutalinov was sentenced to 25 years in prison with confiscation of property.
