Currency intervention of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan brought a result. The selling rate of the U.S. dollar dropped below 69.9 soms for the 1st time in two months.
Today, the capital’s exchange offices and commercial banks sell the dollar for 69.8-69.85 soms. This is 5-10 tyiyns below the exchange rate, which has kept since November 2018. Buying rate of the American currency fell even more — by 20-30 tyiyns. Today, the dollar is purchased for 69.5-69.65 soms.
The nominal rate of the National Bank is 69,7394 soms (0.05 percent drop for a day).
To curb the growth of the dollar, the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic sold $ 18.8 million in mid-January. In addition, the National Bank intervened 11 times in 2018. Totally, it bought $ 20,550 million, and sold $ 154,550 million. Net sales of dollars by the National Bank amounted to $ 134 million.
