Belarus reduces VAT rate on a number of goods from EEU countries

Belarus has reduced VAT rate for crop production, beekeeping, animal husbandry and fish farming products from the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union. The Eurasian Economic Commission reported.

Amendments to article 122 of the Tax Code of the republic came into force on January 1, 2019. The value-added tax (VAT) rate will be 10 percent for both the Belarusian goods, and for goods imported into the republic from the states of the Eurasian Economic Union.

«Earlier, the rate was twice higher. This is not consistent with the agreement on EEU. On 22 May 2018, the EEC Board notified Belarus of the need to respect the Union’s right and remove this barrier in the domestic market. The government of the country carried out the necessary work and set equal conditions for taxation,» Karine Minasyan, Member of the Board, Minister in charge of the Domestic Markets, Information Support, Information and Communication Technologies of EEC, said.
