The term of imprisonment of the son of ex-MP Karganbek Samakov, Kubanychbek Samakov, sentenced by the Oktyabrsky District and the Bishkek City Courts to 10 years in prison, has been reduced. Lawyers informed 24.kg news agency.
According to them, today the Supreme Court of Kyrgyzstan delivered a verdict in the criminal case against Kubanychbek Samakov, accused of corruption. Lower courts sentenced Samakov to eight years in prison, the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic partially changed the sentence. Kubanychbek Samakov must serve six years in a penal colony.
Recall, an investigator of the Prosecutor General’s Office Kylychbek Arpachiev, accused of extorting a large bribe from Kubanychbek Samakov, was sentenced by the court to 14 years in prison.
Karganbek Samakov himself and others were charged with illegal transformation of 262 hectares of land in Baitik, Lebedinovka and Kara-Dzhigach rural areas of Alamedin district. Karganbek Samakov was sentenced to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
Abai Tashtanbekov, Alikbai Sariev, Kubanychbek Samakov, Ernis Koichumanov and Urmat Nurdinov were sentenced to eight years with serving the sentence in a penal colony with confiscation of property under article 303 (corruption) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. Arstanbek Nogoev, Kurmanbek and Zhanysh Bakiyev were sentenced to 10 years in prison under article 304 (abuse of office). All three are wanted.
The former prime minister Igor Chudinov and ex-minister of agriculture Iskender Aidaraliev were fined 5 million soms each.
