National Bank of Kyrgyzstan intervenes to curb dollar growth

The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan continues to intervene to smooth out a sharp rise in the U.S. dollar exchange rate. It repeatedly sold dollars the day before.

As the website of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic says, it totally sold $ 13.1 million with settlements on the date of the transaction and $ 5.7 million — with settlements different from the date of the transaction. Thus, to restrain the dollar exchange rate, the National Bank spent $ 18.8 million of international reserves.

The dollar selling rate is unchanged in all banks and exchange offices of the country — 69.9 soms. But the buying rate has slightly dropped since the beginning of the week — from 69.8 to 69.75-69.7 soms. Nominal rate is 69,8499 soms.

In 2018, the National Bank has conducted 11 interventions. It totally bought $ 20,550 million, and sold $154,550. Net sales of dollars by the National Bank amounted to $ 134 million.
