Kyrgyz officials draw plans to prevent child abuse

The Vice Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Altynai Omurbekova met with representatives of international and public organizations to discuss the prevention of cruel treatment and violence against children. Press service of the government reported.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Development of the Kyrgyz Republic presented at the meeting a draft action plan for the prevention of cruel treatment and violence against children for 2019-2020. According to Altynai Omurbekova, it is planned to finalize and approve the document by February in order to begin its implementation.

She noted that the district headquarters for the prevention of ill-treatment and violence against children had resumed their work, and household visits were made to detect children in difficult life situations for creation of a database.

The action plan provides for a nationwide outreach campaign to prevent ill-treatment and violence against children, organizing work on the early detection of families and children in difficult life situations, and increasing the effectiveness of state bodies and local governments in this direction.

«In particular, it is conducting a thorough investigation of each case of ill-treatment and violence against a child, the rapid exchange of information between the social development, health, education and internal affairs agencies on the detection of dysfunctional families with children in difficult situations and a number of other measures,» the government noted.
