Kyrgyz officials to reduce fine amount for spitting on streets

The Government of Kyrgyzstan plans to reduce the size of fine for spitting on the streets. The Deputy Prime Minister Zhenish Razakov told at a press conference.

According to him, a fine of 5,500 soms for spitting is included in the article «Throwing and burning of garbage.»

«This moment caused a wide public response. The Prime Minister held several meetings. The Code of Violations has an article for smoking in undesignated places. The fine is 1,000 soms. We believe that the penalties for smoking and spitting should be comparable,» said Zhenish Razakov.

He added that there were three bills to amend the Code of Violations in the Parliament.

«We will promote reduction of the spitting fine,» Zhenish Razakov stressed.
