A Volvo truck was detained in At-Bashi village of Naryn region as a part of the corruption scheme for import of vehicles into the territory of Kyrgyzstan. The State Service for Combating Economic Crimes informed 24.kg news agency.
The State Service for Combating Economic Crimes continues to investigate the criminal case under articles 204 (smuggling) and 304 (abuse of official position) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. It is about smuggling of expensive vehicles without payment of the prescribed customs duties.
After the detention of the vehicle, the owner of the truck paid 1,444,985 soms to the budget.
«At present, the state service continues inspection measures aimed at detection of similar facts throughout the country. Article 204 allows a citizen to be released from criminal liability if he or she voluntarily paid the customs payments due, including fines and penalties, with customs declaration and release of goods and other items that were smuggled,» the agency said.
