The Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan instructed local governments of Issyk-Kul region to assist in the restoration of monuments destroyed at the cemetery in Ananyevo village. The Information Support Department of the Government reported.
Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev ordered to find and bring to justice those responsible for vandalism. The head of the government considers the incident as special immorality case.
«Respect for the memory of the deceased is one of the most important features inherent to the people of Kyrgyzstan. Therefore, the perpetrators should be found and punished, and the local self-government bodies should assist in the restoration of destroyed monuments,» Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev stressed.
The Orthodox cemetery in Ananyevo village was vandalized. The police department of Issyk-Kul region says that 35 crosses and two monuments were broken. Pre-investigation check is conducted. Local residents reported that at least 89 graves were destroyed.
