Sale of weapons in Border Service. Military sentenced to 5-17 years in prison

The Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek delivered verdict to the accused of sale of weapons from the warehouses of the State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan. The Supreme Court of the republic reported.

The court sentenced the warrant officer of the State Border Service Rustam Mambetov under the articles «Theft or extortion of firearms, ammunition, explosives» and «Illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of firearms, ammunition, explosives and explosive devices» of the Criminal Code to 17 years in prison.

The rest of the defendants were convicted under the article «Illegal manufacture, purchase, storage, transportation or shipment of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances without aim to sell» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

A serviceman Zholdoshbek Akuev, who, according to investigation, was an intermediary, was sentenced to 13 years in prison, the former head of the warehouse, Eruslan Asanaliev, — to 12 years in prison. A member of the organized criminal group was sentenced to nine years in prison. Due to the fact that he had previously been sentenced to 21 years in prison by the verdict of the Oktyabrsky District Court, he was sentenced to 22 years. Other two defendants received 5 and 8 years in prison. Six people got suspended sentences from five to eight years.

The civil lawsuit of the Military Prosecutor’s Office against the defendants in the amount of 4,551,691 soms was upheld.

In October 2017, it became known that a warrant officer of the Border Service was suspected of sale of weapons. According to investigators, he sold Kalashnikov assault rifles, surveillance devices, Makarov pistols and ammunition from a warehouse of one of the military units of the State Border Service. In addition to him, police officers detained a driver of the former chairman of the State Committee for Defense Affairs and members of an organized criminal group.
