The candidacy of Bolot Otunbayev was submitted by the Presidential Administration in consultation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic for consideration to the Parliamentary Committee on International Affairs. If the deputies support Bolot Otunbayev, he will replace Kadyr Toktogulov in Washington.
Kadyr Toktogulov became the head of the diplomatic mission of the Kyrgyz Republic in the United States and Canada in 2014. Prior to that, he was a Spokesman for the President Almazbek Atambayev. In April 2018, he got a notice from the parliamentary committee and his report was even planned to be recognized unsatisfactory.
