Information about release of Kyrgyzstani from camp in China not confirmed

Information about the release of a Kyrgyz citizen Abylet Turdakun from a re-education camp in China has not been confirmed. Representatives of the Committee for the Protection of the Kyrgyz in PRC informed 24.kg news agency.

According to them, Abylet Turdakun is still in custody. «According to our information, he was not released. They forced him to call to Bishkek and give false information,» representatives of the committee said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic stated that there was no official data on the detention and release of citizens of the country from the re-education camps so far. The Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Beijing is waiting for a response from the Chinese side.

Earlier, the Committee for the Protection of Kyrgyz in the PRC reported that Abylet Turdakun, who was detained in 2017, was released. He obtained Kyrgyz citizenship in 2016.

Kyrgyz diplomats, as part of a joint delegation of representatives of diplomatic missions of 12 states, visited the cities of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China from December 28 to December 30.

The day before, the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Kazakhstan spread information that Beijing had gave consent to departure of 2,000 ethnic Kazakhs from the People’s Republic of China.
